![]() Since taking over his late father, Henri-Louis, in 1990, the vigneron has transformed his 44-acre family winery from an anonymous bulk wine source to the top winery in Gigondas, and arguably into one of the best estates in the Southern Rhône. Louis Barruol is one of the Rhône Valley's most celebrated winemakers. Louis Barruol, owner and winemaker, Château de St.-Cosme, hosted by news editor Mitch Frank. The Barolo winery was purchased by the Krause family of Iowa in 2016, which included the brand, the winery and 84 acres of vineyards. In 1992, his father, Alfredo, asked him to return to Piedmont to oversee harvest at age 25, and he has been with the family-run estate ever since. Luca's winemaking history includes short stints with California's Simi Winery, Opus One, Long Vineyards and Bordeaux's Mouton-Rothschild. Now in its fourth generation of winemaking, Luca Currado is the current CEO, and manages the estate with his wife, Elena. Located in the Langhe hills of Piedmont, Vietti was founded in 1873 by Carlos Vietti. Luca and Elena Currado of Vietti Winery, hosted by senior editor Bruce Sanderson. Today, she is head winemaker for J Vineyards, making sparkling and still wines from Russian River Valley, including a Pinot Noir which earned the third spot in Wine Spectator's Top 10 Values of 2021. Gallo Winery, Hitchcock worked a harvest at Houghton Winery in Australia and later returned to a winemaking position at Gallo. Davis with a degree in viticulture and enology in 2001 and began her winemaking journey at Robert Mondavi Winery that same year.
